I have a day care child who just turned one. If I am not in her sight she cries...If I walk ten feet from her to go check on the children napping (She then is waking the other children up by crying), if I go to wash my hands in the bathroom which is right outside my child care room, she cries....Whenever she thinks I am not right by her she gets upset...Anyone experience this before? If so, what did you do?

I have a 15 month old who's been doing this to me lately. It's VERY hard and I haven't found a good way to deal with it yet. He screams if he's across a baby gate from me and almost panics trying to get to me (I have my playroom divided into the "baby side" and the "big kid side" by a superyard and if he's on one side and I step to the other for even a second, he acts like this). If I go to the bathroom, he panics. If I step out of his sight while he's eating at the table with everyone else, he panics...the only time he doesn't panic out of my sight is when he's in the naproom going down for a nap.
I have started thinking it's an age thing, separation anxiety or something (although DCM doesn't report any of the same behavior at home) and will pass with time. I sure hope so, he's been with me almost a year and this started VERY suddenly. I'm really glad to hear that I'm not the only one dealing with this, though! I was starting to worry about it a bit.Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!- Flag
