I was wondering what holidays you take off, and how many weeks for summer vacation in a home daycare.

I take off the major holidays:
New Year's Day
Memorial Day
July 4th
Labor Day
Thanksgiving and day after
Dec. 24, 25, 226
These days are paid holidays. For vacation, I take 2 or 3 weeks during the summer months unpaid. I started out with 3, then the last 3 years only 2, because I can't afford to take off with no pay. That is one thing that ****s with this job.- Flag

I close for Paid holidays on:
Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Years Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day and Fourth of July.
I take one week of unpaid vacation each July and I have 3 unpaid sick / personal days each year.- Flag

• Good Friday • Day after thanksgiving
• Memorial Day • Christmas Eve

I also have it in my policy that I can take up to 4 weeks vacation - but normal I average about 2 weeks total by taking a day here & a day there off.- Flag

Closing for President's day?
You must have alot of bankers or gov't workers kids in your care-here in the real world (people who actually work for a living-LOL) nobody gets the day off, thus the kids still need care.
We're available 24/7 regardless of holidays (prison guards and medical personnel still have to work even on Christmas), but we do close occasionally for personal reasons, and give plenty of advance notice (30 days at least) for things like my nephews wedding, my parents 50th anniversary party, etc.Last edited by Chickenhauler; 09-12-2009, 03:41 AM.Spouse of a daycare provider....which I guess makes me one too!- Flag

yes, Im closed for Presidents day, I give my families one year in advance of my days off,.. they make arrangements for care the days Im closed. Ive only called in 3 times in 20 years,.. I am not a center Im a home, the kids arent daycare kids,... they are part of my family. And, the parents appreciate that enough to never balk at my schedule.
