    Interview Today

cancelled. At least she had the courtesy to call though. She said that something came up and she'd call me next week. My neighbor down the street has had 3 people in the last 2 weeks not show up. I don't get why some people can't just pick up the phone and cancel.

Do any of you get a lot of cancellations or no shows?

yep, more no-shows than cancellations. In fact, no one has ever called to cancel...just lots of no-shows, and once when I called someone when she was 20 minutes late and she "tried to reschedule" and eventually it was just a n-show. Very frustrating.

I attribute the no-shows to people who can't read on my ad or see on my website the VERY detailed location of my home, and once they get my address and map it, find that my house doesn't fit where they need.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

you know, its not just with this business either.

i've noticed no one RSVP's for parties anymore either. what the heck is the big deal about giving a quick call and saying you can or cant make it?!?!?!?!

last year for my sons bday, i only had 2 rsvp, so thats all i thought was coming. the day of the party? 14 showed up. i was a bit peeved.

I've never had a cancellation. Only no-shows. Once a girl called to tell me she was going to be late, which I was just astounded at! I thought maybe she would be a great fit, but then it was just an awkward interview and when she never called back afterwards, I wasn't surprised.

My daughter's birthday party last year I had the same problem with rudeness! We invited 17 kids and only 2 RSVP'd. Well, I can't afford to get things for kids who don't show up, so I called everyone to make sure they were coming. I got so many different excuses for why they didn't call me. Then the REALLY annoying part was a couple of the people who said they were coming didn't show up. So I ended up with extra favors anyway!

I don't get this whole no-show thing! That is NOT the way I was brought up!

In the past year and a half that I've been doing daycare I've never had a no show until this week. I had a mom say that she was having a hard time finding child care and I went ahead and made an exception for her and agreed to doing after hours... She wanted to meet on Tues at 1:30. When I didn't get a call from her I called her at 3 and she re-scheduled for 5... Still no call and a no show. Guess she wasn't that desperate after all. And then yesterdays cancellation call. I am impressed that she actually cared enough to cancel... There may be hope for this one.

Seriously! My sister is a wedding planner and she's throwing a huge promotional party tomorrow and she sent out a ton of invites and only 8 people or so responded. She went ahead and still planned for about a hundred. She's a little ticked, but she said, "who RSVP's these days anyways?". She's right. My sons birthday party is tonight and we're going to a place called Sky High. Its important to have a confirmed head count so I don't have to over pay. Only 4 out of the 10 kids have RSVP'd and I called a few parents and left them messages... Still have yet to hear from them. I will be peeved if they all end up showing up.

It definitely wasn't the way I was brought up either.
