Anyone Have Your Own Family's Kids In Care?

This turned into a vent but....

My sister in law kept her little one home today becuase he threw up in the car on the way here. Talked to her a few min ago and she said he hasnt been sick anymore today and man is she glad because both her and hubs have big presentations to do at work tomorrow.

I know better but I didnt immediately say- fever free for 24 hours. Mostly because I had an immediate bathroom break for a potty trainer right when she called. Now I feel bad mentioning it after the fact but man I don't want her sick one at my house- even if its 23 hours after fever.

Too bad its my sister in law. Looks like I don't have a choice in this matter. Anyone else think things like this about their own family... = (

Nope! Related or not! A sick child is a sick child and if one is sick and comes, all my others can get sick as well as my own family.

My own son is not allowed to bring my grandson if he is sick, has an excessive snotty nose, a fever or is overly cranky requiring constant attention.

I have the same policies for all.

NO family or friends in business. PERIOD. That rule seems to apply in alot of busnesses and I guarantee you it is for good reasons. If you never break it, then it will never be a problem. If you break it, you will know why it is a rule really quickly.

I would send her a text and just tell her exactly that...sorry, I was busy when you called and couldn't talk to you then, however, please don't forget that DCK cant return for 24 hours untilo free of fever and vomiting without the aid of medication. NOT your responsibility, it's their child regardless of blood... I would also point out what if the kid gets you sick?? then you will have to close the DC, lose money and all of the other families will be out....some might even leave... I would not go without telling them the rules just as you would anyone else.

Funny, I quit my job early and started my daycare to be available with an income when my Grandkids got here so I could keep them. None yet, parents are still trying. I was also friends with 2 of my 3 parents before I took their kids on. We have had no problems. I did a contract up front and let them know it was a business first, friends second.

Don't change rules for family!! You'll get burned. I learned that too late.
