    Transition Out of Nap

It's been so long that I've had to transition out of first nap that I seriously forgot how.

    What's your method?

For my own kids I always woke them up earlier in 15 minutes increments. It's also what I have recommended to DCP's who have asked for advice on how to phase it out.

So if little sleeps from 9 - 10:30. For about 5 days I would wake at 10:15, then 10:00 for another 5 days, then 9:45, and so forth until it was phased out.

This is what I do too. I am currently in the middle of doing this. This kid is 17 months but wakes at 5am. She comes to my house at 7am and goes down for 1.5hrs. Last week I cut it down to 1hr. This week I kept it at 1hr but am hoping to cut it back to 30min by end of week. It depends on the kid how quickly the transition goes and how much they sleep at night.

BB does what I do. The only difference is if the child is really ready to drop the AM nap I may only do a couple days each increment.
