    Field Trip WWYD?

Next wk is Feb. recess and I planned some outings with the kids. We are going to the movies, a magic show and Chuck E Cheese. I am paying for all but CEC. I asked the parents to give me a signed permission slip and $10 to cover the pizza package and tokens. I have received some permission slips but no money. I have a few parents with issues of paying for trips. So my question is if they refuse to pay.

Do I ask them to stay home for the day? (my contract says they pay here or not so I see that making them angry)

Or, do I just pack the kids PB&J to eat instead of pizza? I wont give them tokens either but they can play in the tunnel since thats free. It will **** for the kids but I'm not paying.

I would send out a reminder asking for the money. State that if they don't send the money for the trip, they will have to find alternate care for the day.

how much notice did you give them?

if they've had time to decide, then its their problem. pay up or dont come.

Definitely send out a reminder stating they need to pay or find alternate care the time the daycare will be at CEC. Maybe in the future add to your contract that there will be field trips on occasion that they will need to pay for; and if they don't pay they need to find alternate care.

I just cover everything in the price of their weekly fees. It's a 100% write off anyway. It's tough when you're budgeting for several outings in the same week which is why we don't typically do more than one that costs money in any given week.

Since you've already told the parents that they need to provide the money I would be up front with each of them that haven't paid and find out if there is a problem. I have several families that $10 per kid would be a problem but if I offered to pay for the trip and have them give me $5 for 2 weeks that would probably work. I have had some in the past that it would have taken several weeks to pay an extra $10 since they were on state aid and that would have been about 1/3 of their whole month's copay.

I gave everyone 3 weeks notice and still sent out reminders. I also just wrote it in on the info board today. I am hoping some are just adding it on to this weeks pay but they could at least let me know. I do have it in my contract that I pay for most field trips but on occation trips will be planned at cost to parents. I then give examples of what ones they will pay for and how much. I only do this two or three times per year. I haven't had a problem but now I have all new families and they grunt over even paying me my wkly rate. My other families aged out at the same time so I had to start over with new ones.

If it is in your contract, I would just add the cost to their weekly fees, and let them know that late fees will apply if they do not pay in full, on time. If they balk, whip out the contract they signed, and point it out.

these parents should be grateful that their children are going out and having fun. Many many children never get to do anything.
