I am glad I am not alone. And I have deff heard the phantom baby cries as well.
When I used to nanny the family that I nannied for was a very crunchy granola hippie dippy type family. Love them but wouldn’t raise my kids the way they are. Anyways they co slept at night and when the youngest was a baby they didn’t want her napping anywhere but someone’s arms so I held her her entire nap, every nap. It was fine bc I got snuggles and the Netflix remote and they didn’t care if I also napped. Any time I did nap though I always had the same dream. That the mom came out of her office and woke us up but that I was unable to open my eyes but consciously aware of everything that was happening. I stopped napping with her after that happened 3-4 times. It felt so real it was scary.
Also if anyone was wondering said coddled child is now 6.5 and last I checked still slept in her parents bed and has hella anxiety and struggles in school a ton when it comes to appropriate social interaction. I’m not saying it’s their parenting style but for sure that I would not raise my own children they way they chose to raise her.- Flag

I know this is an old topic but I find it funny(worrisome maybe?) of how life-impacting this job is(was for me) when I still have very vivid dreams often even having been out of the biz for awhile.
I dream about former dcks more often than anything else in my life. I have come to realize I do miss some of it; the projects and planning, the fun and excitement, even the noise. At the time I sensed a lot of dread....oh no, another holiday we need to plan for, that type of thing.
But these days, in my dreams, children are *usually* having fun, laughing, listening and never a dirty diaper.- Flag

It's nice to hear that you miss (some) of it though. I keep trying to get out of this biz, but it never works in my favor. Either it's too hard to give up grant money, tax write offs or being home with my kids. I am convinced I will not miss it one bit.- Flag
