Treat diaper rash using egg whites - This remedy calls for egg whites. Simply crack open an egg and remove the yolks. Apply the egg whites over the rash and put the babies diaper on. Do this for a few diaper changes. The rash should be nearly all gone by the next few diaper changes. Worked great for my last child who had a horrible problem with rashes on his bum.

When my own kids get a bad rash (as my ds did earlier this week), I use 40% zinc oxide ointment, resinol, or aquaphor. Ds's rash wasnt clearing up with the zinc, so I got out a tube of nystatin (he had the small little bumps that are indicative of yeast) and it cleared up within 1-1/2 days after I started using that.
He does have little red bumps on the top going towards his belly button.

        Cameoseptine

I know that the doc said use nothing but we used cameoseptine ointment. Just ask for it from the pharmisist. It cleared it up within a few days.

My little girl used to get really bad yeast rashes and the nystatin never worked. Finally my pediatrician recommended to get some clotramizole 1% ointment. It's basically Lotrimin AF (for jock itch) but I always bought the store brand. It clears up within a day! It's the only thing that ever worked. I'm actually using it right now for a rash she got! Don't know if its okay for you to recommend it to the Mom or not. That's up to you.

my sons diaper area and his inner thighs have been red for like a WEEK, I've tried everything! I finally took him to the dr yesterday and the dr said he was probably allergic to baby wipes AND disposable diapers! He is 14 months old! The dr. says sometimes it just happens like that, and to lather him up with desitin, vaseline, any kind of barrier cream, until I use up the diapers I have, then to potty train....this is going to be bad!

You could also try changing which wipes and diapers you're using. Are they Pampers, by any chance?
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

                reb bum

alot of time babies get yeast infections from being on antibiotics, most likely wont go away on its own. I had a baby girl that kept getting ear infections and they put her on anti and then she gets yeast infections. Mom thought it was just diaper rash but I said nope its YI and please take her in and get meds for it. The stuff the Dr gave her clears it right up in just a few days.
                good luck!

I know this is a few days since you originally posted but my dr said NEVER to bring our son in for diaper rash until we tried the following. A & D, Desitin (or generic form) and yeast infection cream. All three at once. My son gets rashes regularly and this works like a charm. Dr said if we went in she would just tell us to do this anyway so to save a trip try it first.

Also, the baking soda bath does work too! And use a warm wash cloth (nice soft one) instead of wipes if needed.
