We purposely set off our smoke detector one night to see if DS would wake up, stir, or just sleep through it. He didn't even move a muscle! It was actually pretty scary to see. There was a news report about how kids sleep through the alarms, so we tried it.

That is so scary to me.....

Not that they went off, that kids sleep through it. Aghhhh!!

Maybe they should make them sound like a telephone or food in a providers mouth? That always works around here...
        - Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.

WOW! Are they hardwired together? How many do you have? We have 4 upstairs and 3 downstairs...when one goes, they all go, and it is LOUD!

              Lmao! That is soooo true!

On a serious note, I thought I heard something about a recordable alarm. Something about you can record a message in your voice and that's suppose to be more of a wake up for the kids. I'll have to search for that. For some reason I don't think it was available though....I'll post something if I find it.

I heard the same thing. There was a study where they had sleeping kids, and there was either a regular smoke alarm or a recording of mom's voice saying something like "wake up, there's a fire" and the only ones that woke up were the ones that had mom's voice!

                  Here's one that I found:

Doesn't look like it can be hard wired, but might be worth it to have as a "safety net" - hope that makes sense.
