    Licensing Changes in Michigan

Michigan providers, I just received an email saying there is a meeting coming up regarding the changes for group and family daycares in Michigan. I have not heard of any changes. Has anyone else? This is what the email said.

"As many of you know LARA will have some very important changes coming soon that will affect Child Care Family and Group Homes. Many of you may be confused about the changes so we have decided to have Lansing come and do a training for Bay, Midland and Saginaw County home providers."

Yes I heard of the changes when I recently renewed my license. They have sent out a few emails too but they are kind of vague.

This is the link to the last Michigan Child Care Matters. I hope it works. It has most of the new changes.

I know a couple of the changes are a new fingerprint done, CPR will be every 2 years, a visit from licensing every year and we will have to renew every 2 years.

I tried the link and it says its forbidden. Sorry about that. You can go to the licensed providers page at the Michigan.gov site and get to it from there.

I noticed that it's an inspection every 2 years and also 1 unannounced inspection. Not that I have anything to hide, but yuck I read too that training would change, but I can't seem to find more details about that. There is an information meeting in a couple of weeks here that I'm going. Someone from Lansing is coming.

On page 12 of the MI child care matters book it does go over the trainings we are going to need. If I’m reading it right some of them are a one time only and we would need to keep the certificates on file. I haven’t heard of any meetings in my area yet. Seems like they would have more information out since the new rules start March 28th.
