I posted a thread here last week https://www.daycare.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26176 and was excited to FINALLY get a new DCK after having such low enrollment for months and months. I made less in 2010 than I have in probably 10 years! The income from this girl was greatly needed!!
Her mom said she'd be here at 7:40. That came and went and I was getting discouraged as it got later. Had a funny feeling she was going to flake. So 8:05 I call her cell, it rings about 5 times and I KNOW she let it go to voice mail. She calls back 5 min later and says "Oh, we're going to be moving in a couple months, so I'm just going to leave her where she is until we move". I was livid!! She knew I had to print up paperwork for her because I told her I would. She knew I was going to label her cubby and do some other stuff to be ready for her, but most of all, she knew I needed to order Preschool curriculum for her!!!! We talked all about it when she was here last Monday. So I did all that for nothing. Hopefully I can cancel the curriculum order. I told her "I wish you would have called me last week because I did (all the above) for your daughter's arrival". She says "Well I just found out a couple days ago". I call a major b.s. on her story. She started to say something else and I just cut her off and said "Well, best of luck to you. Bye bye." and hung up. Not in a blatantly rude way, but enough to get the message across that she did me wrong.
THEN..... DCB went to Disneyland with his Grandparents from Jan 22nd to Jan 27th. The next time I saw him was Feb 2nd. I noticed a slight smell all day, but never pinned down where it came from. He came again Feb 4th and it was stronger. I mentioned it to Dad in the morning and said I think it's coming from the boy's backpack. The Dad sniffed it but couldn't smell anything. I do have a bloodhound nose, so I just chalked it up to me smelling something that others couldn't. But the dad said they'd wash the backpack over the weekend just in case. So he comes today and it's stronger than ever. After Dad leaves I take out all the contents of the backpack and (gross) there are 8 tangerines in it, 2 of which are a fuzzy gooey mess. The fuzz got on a bunch of other stuff, and the bottom of the backpack is black with it. I put on gloves and put all of the stuff I had taken out into a paper sack, and put the paper sack and the backpack with fur and goo on my front porch. All I kept were 2 pullups (which were on the top and not affected). So these tangerines have been in there for 16 days!!! Mom had packed them for the trip with the Grandparents, and they had gone on a plane and all through Disneyland without being used. They got smashed with all the stuff on top of them, which is why 2 of them were goo. Now why didn't they "wash" the backpack over the weekend like Dad said they would? And by today, it was smelling bad enough that even non-bloodhound nosed people should have been able to smell it.
So that's my Monday.
