I Think I Tanked My Interview

I had an interview at noon yesterday and I think it was a total flop. The people were nice enough, and they know one of my cousins so that was a good ice breaker...I just didn't get a good vibe from it. I doubt I'll be hearing from them again.

I think I"m out of the interviewing business, at least until I"m back from my vacation in March.

Interviewing ****S. I hate it so much. I usually do one or two families a year but that's enough to make me hate it.

I gave away an hour of my life last night with a FABULOUS couple who live nearby.

Found out she is a teacher at the middle school my son will be going to next school year and she teaches the grade my son is going in to. She's the only teacher for her subject so she would definitely have him as a student.

I knew she taught at my sons new school but dummy me didn't think to ask her what grade and what subject. When I found out he would definitely be in her class no matter what I just tried to finish the interview.

        Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I don't have much experience with teachers (only had one in all my years) so I wasn't thinking on my feet when I did the preinterview phone stuff.

Bummer because they were most excellent and I would have definitely given them a second interview. My kind of peeps but I know better than to mix business with family.

Oh and Pig Pen Possum Pup http://www.nanshouse.com/apps/photos...toid=110033810
was in her puppy kennel downstairs with my Staff Assistant and as soon as I came down stairs to tour them thru the nursery she saw me and started howling like she was being attacked by a giant hyena.

The Mom kept going.... ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh poor puppy.

She only weighs six pounds and she can ROCK MY HOUSE. I'm going to have to hire a puppy nanny for when I do interviews.

She's supposed to be a teddy bear but I have my doubts. She looks like a dog that tracks http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Mickey_Mouse.svg for a living.

You never know. I usually feel pretty good after each interview and have never had someone not enroll their kids once we've talked. I did have one family, though, who made me feel the same way your family did. I felt so uncomfortable during the interview and just assumed afterward that I'd never hear from them again. I was surprised when they did call back to enroll their baby in my day care. I never felt super comfortable with either parent but after they left my care, the parents stayed in touch, emailing me here and ther to update me on their lives. The dcm stopped by once to visit with her dd who was in kindergarten by then and even though it's been about 10 years since I cared for her, they still send me Christmas cards with updated pictures of their kids. I never would have guessed they would be the family to do this after that first interview! Either way, I hope it turns out for the best for you.
