I got an easel that has felt on one side and a magnetic surface on the other side from a fellow daycare provider friend and I wanted to spruce it up and make it more functional for me.
Currently I have a small Melissa & Doug magnetic calendar board that I use for morning meeting but I had to hold it while I was using it, once I got the easel I would hang it from the easel but it took up a lot of surface space and wasn't really functional.
So I got crafty and first applied dry-erase vinyl so now on that side I can write AND attach magnets. Then I used my Cricut to cut-out my own calendar out of vinyl and made sure that it would still fit the same magnets that came with my M&D board and I love how it's coming out!
It's not finished yet but I'm excited! I still have to finish making the days of the week and finish off the thermometer but it's coming along nicely.
I'm thinking that I also want to make some sort of bags or pouches or some type of organizer to keep the extra magnets in and figure out a way to either hang it or velcro it to the underside of the easel so I can have them accessible but not in the way. I might even get a little magnetic holder for the markers. Thoughts on a way to keep my little do-dads organized?
