Does the daycare have to provide food that is gluten free for a child (doctor recommended diet) if they are on the food program?

yes and no....
you have to follow an allergy plan, serving gluten free foods. However, you can also require the parents to provide ONE component of the meal. So if you're providing a fruit, vegetable, and protein and making sure that those are all GF (not contaminated with gluten) you can ask the parents to send gluten free bread and pasta for you each week. I find it just easier not to serve bread or pasta. I serve brown rice or other grains in those situations...to everyone.- Flag

Is the Dr "recommending" it to see if child has a gluten allergy or intolerance or is Dr simply saying "recommended" because the parents are choosing to be gluten free?- Flag
