Non-stop Talking ahhhhhhh

I have a few kids like that, and they are the ones that get LOTS of screen time at home. One of them even talks like an app, asking the questions AND answering them: "Shall we play a game?...what shape is the ball?...a circle!...you are correct." Just non-stop diarrhea of the mouth.

When they are trying to talk my ears off, or otherwise completely monopolize my attention, I tell them to tell their story or talk about whatever it is to their friends or even a stuffed animal. John Rosemond style. And I don't feel bad about it, either.

OMG ok that would annoy the life out of me having a kid talk like an app, ask the question and then answer it like a parrot.

I do the same thing, oh thats great lets go tell your friend.

One time one of the kids even said, noooo I am tired of hearing your words I don't want my ears to hurt anymore. I had to refrain myself from giving that kid a high five.

I'll answer three "why" questions. Then my answer is "Why not?"

I always reply back, "Why do you think?" It usually shuts them up for a few seconds...

I sing. Loudly and badly. They don't try to talk to me while I'm singing! But sometimes they do put in requests. ::

"I've GOT a MULE; her name is SAL. . . ."

Also 3 yr old DCB. He says my name literally 500000 times an hour. Its gotten to the point where I have to threaten him with nap, which works, so I keep doing it. Half of the time I say "what"? And he looks at me blankly trying to think of something to ask me!!

Also my own 8 year old is a chatter box. It gets very overwhelming sometimes. I have to tell her to stop because it is sensory overload. Sometimes I think it is sensory seeking behavior.

This was my day today with a three year old. It was "Miss Jane" this and "Miss Jane" that all. day. long. about nothing important. I finally realized that it was for attention. I ended up having her sit by herself at the coloring table, because "I have other children here who I need to talk to."

Ahhhhhhhh!
