How To Get Dcb To Stop Jumping In The Pnp

I have this dcb that as soon as I put him in his PNP will pull the Velcro up and move the mattress and he jumps up and down really loud. Has anyone else every dealt with this? He also shakes the PNP against the wall. I have to have him against the wall and barricade him in because he can climb out. Way to obnoxious the lay on a mat.

Was it legomom or laundrymom who had a kiddo like this? To be honest, I think the child was termed because jumping in the pnp was just the tip of the iceberg!

I have only had 1 jumper and never a climber of pnps. I almost never use this technique but it works..."mean mommy voice".......kinda like a growl....say "LAY DOWN!"....they are so shocked that they lay down cause the rest of the time it is all kindness, snuggles, and sunshine.

Ignoring can work too. The climbing bit scares me though. I think NannyD uses a pnp with super tall sides.

This child should not be in a PNP. Truthfully, the ONLY way this is going to be better is by doing the hard work.

Every Time this child gets up from the mat, you lay him back down. No talking, no eye contact if possible just lay him/her right back down. It may take days, occasionally it can take weeks. It just MUST be consistent, everyday and not let up...if you give in once, you have cost yourself time. No exceptions other than diaper changes....he/she must stay on their mat. Sit in the room with him/her and read or anything non-stimulating, but letting them know you ARE watching. Naptime is supervised time.

When I know I am transitioning one to a mat, I do not plan anything during nap times for a few weeks. I prepare everything in advance since I KNOW I will be working through break for a bit. I expect to clean, disinfect and mop AFTER I close.

Sorry, there are no easy answers for this one. I do use a box fan and a ocean cd as white noise. As soon as I turn on that cd my biggers go to their own mats . I move them there at 12 months. Always have. It has never been easy.

You are absolutely right! I have been dreading this day for months.. I gotta do it. I will go buy a mat this weekend to transition one at a time.

I got all of mine at a discount store called Freds. They are all 2 inch kindermats and less than $10 each. I have had all 8 of them over 4 years and they look brand new. Very good quality.

I find them safer in a pnp so, I use my mean voice and they do lay down. Funny thing is, when you talk to parents about what happens at bedtime, I shocked that they do this jumping up and down on their beds, stripping of beds, climbing off the beds, its a three ring circus with most of my parents. So if I started putting kids too early on mats I would be faced with the same problems.

my 13 month old is a pnp rocker...he holds the side and tries to rock the pnp back and forth...never a dull moment
