What's your policy on if someone pulls out during the trial period? Do you require notice? If so, how much? If they give no notice and do a "no call, no show" for 3 days, are they terminated?

I would terminate after the first no show no call. The only time I've waved that is when kid and mom both had the flu. I got a text that evening that they'd both been super sick and an apology and that was ok.
I don't require notice in the trial period. That's when I consider it safe for both parties to say it isn't working and part ways.- Flag

My trial period is 6 weeks and they still need to give me two weeks notice. The trial period benefits me and is for me, not the parent because I know there is no reason for them to immediately terminate the contract. All the usual rules apply to the parent. I give myself the liberty of immediate termination during the trial period and I refund the two week deposit in the event that this happens. Immediate term happens when I discover parents have lied about behaviors and not following simple policies.- Flag

My trial period is 2 weeks for full time and 1 month for part time. No advance notice is needed. Just a "hey, Johnny won't be returning."- Flag

they have to let me know the day before. So if they decide they are not coming back, they need to let me the day before so that I don't set up meals and what not for their kid that day.
I refund all money for any unused services minus $75.00- Flag

The trial period is exactly that.... a test run to see if they are or aren't a good fit.
If the family starts (pays for the first week upfront as agreed upon) and decides they don't want to stay, I would refund them any unused funds paid.
If they simply didn't show up, they would be considered "No Longer Attending" and that's that.
If I choose to not enroll a family/child I would let them know during the trial period...depending on why the notice of "not going to permanently enroll" would be immediate or in some cases, done when the funds are done.- Flag

I buy the same amount of food each week (I only have X # of spaces max so...) and there are no additional supplies or paperwork costs here so no additional costs out of my pocket.- Flag

No new supplies are needed beyond printing a name tag off for the table, printing one off for the cubby, etc. Pennies!
I already have meal time items, nap time items, etc. There's truly nothing new for me to buy. However, I do charge a $15.00 semi-annual supply fee for my 2 day kids. If I remember, I refund this. If I don't, then I don't.- Flag

I love to see how different we all are in how we run our programs. I don't charge any enrollment fees or supply fees, so I do charge a fee of $75 which will cover my time that I spent enrolling them, paperwork, interview time and the extra food that I had to buy for that one child, that fee is only charged if the decide not to enroll or quit during the paid trial period.
I spend several hours enrolling each family and to just have to turn around and do it again becomes very costly for me if I didn't charge.Last edited by daycare; 07-10-2017, 06:27 PM.- Flag

I do not have a trial period... so parents are expected to give notice per the contract which for my program requires one month advance written notice.
No call / no show I would call after 1 day to ensure they are okay if I do not hear back from them within the week I would be marketing / interviewing to replace them. I charge tuition in advance for the entire month so I don't have to jump on them.... but I would worry because that would be out of character for the families in my care. I would not terminate without hearing from them but if they missed tuition I would term.- Flag
