I serve all the children the same food. If they refuse to even try it, I help them try a bite and tell them they can spit it out if they don't like it. If they refuse, I tell say, "The next time we are eating is at (lunch, snack). You sure you're done?" And stick to your guns.

They rarely starve.

My own 6 year old is picky. She gets to choose what she eats out of the choices I serve. Sometimes she chooses nothing. I do talk to her about declining politely instead of making nasty faces and thanking people who take the time to cook her food, but that's as far as I go. It's my job to pick which food to serve and when. It's her job to decide how much and whether she will eat it.

I just don't remember kids being so picky as they have been the past 10-15 yrs. Bugs me to no end. I feel everybody doesn't like some things but some kids don't like anything! I have 1 5-yo who doesn't like most everything.
