I just had to call a DCP and tell them your child has a fever of 101.9 and you need to pick up. DCP says well is that really a fever, what is considered a fever these days........... REALLY!!!
This was the same DCP that sent other child sick last week that got everyone else here sick......oh my what a waonderful day!!!!

Ha! Yeah, with my smart mouth, that's probably what I would have said.

I would kindly give them your illness policy when they pick up their sick one and say, "In case your unclear about my ilness policy, Here is a copy for your fridge. Next time your uncertain, you can check this."

        Some people just don't understand...

I'd do that too, but along with it I'd give him some information printed from the internet to support what you say. Otherwise he'll think it's just YOUR opinion.

I did what you guys said. I printed of the CDC info as well as my PHB just as a reminder... I know that usually mom s read this stuff so I made sure the DCD understood the policy too. I actually read it to him..

I told the DCD that the DCG had really runny poos and along with the fever she would have to go home and could not return until Thursday, he said well if she has watery stool its not like the other kids are going to go and stick their hands in the toilet.......LMAO WTH REALLY???? Dear God i should not have gotten out of bed this morning. Oh yeah and my 4.5 yr old DCB pooped his pants again today.............is it friday yet?

I feel like that too. I'm so glad I have people to vent to; otherwise I'd be out business sometimes.

LMAO... I can't believe he actually said that. ::

Ya know... Different doctors have different opinions about safe temps. My 9 mo old dd had a couple of loose stool diapers yesterday. Fever of 102.4 at 11:30, gave her some tylenol. Her fever went down to 100.3 after the tylenol. She took a late afternoon nap, then woke up even worse. I took her temp about 1/2 hour after her nap and her temp was 103.2 and she was lethargic all day yesterday, extremely cuddly and clingy when she wasn't sleeping.

I called the ER/Urgent care and the nurse said "You NEED to bring her in" not you should bring her in. Yet when we got there, she had a rectal temp of 103.1 and the doc said it's a virus and we really don't need to worry about a fever until its 104. Yet she told me 106 is fatal. Talk about conflicting info...
Give a little love to a child, and you get a great deal back.

I can't imagine it would take much for a fever to go from 104 to 106 if it was that high already. Some docs (and sorry for stereotyping here) are IDIOTS....especially ER docs. I'd stick to 102 and showing other symptoms and I would take them in.

LMAO my husband is a PA in the ER.... he says the same thing all the time..most docs dont know sh**t. they only know how to look up symptoms or similar to that and they say yep thats what they have, sounds like the same thing....

I was not really that worried about how high the fever would have to be to take her to the doc, i was just more concerned about getting her to DCP for more TLC, so if that did happen they could take her to the doc.
