Father's Day Decoupage plate

I plan on doing a plate from the dollar store with the child's handprint on it and write dads treasures or something. I was thinking of decoupaging a small picture of them. Has anyone done that? Does it work?

Don't see why it wouldn't. I would do a test plate to make sure whatever you use actually sticks to the plates. Otherwise sounds like a good plan.
