    Assistant

I'm sure some of you have an assistant or helper that comes for a little while each week to make the days go by a little smoother. Where do you find your helpers? How much on average do you pay them (hourly? Salary?) I've been drained lately and was thinking having someone come to help me out a couple of days a week for a few hours would be a god send! Any info is appreciated!

I just hired my first one. I put ads on craigslist and the local college's online job board. She comes about 4hrs/week. I pay $1 over minimum wage.

I am hoping to hire one this summer. I plan on putting ads on private facebook groups, local college, ballet studios, and maybe on Nextdoor.

I'm watching this. The thought of having to go through all of the extra steps tax wise for a very, very part time helper gives me anxiety.

I had a friend ( who has a bachelor's degree) work for me during maternity leave and she's stayed on this year to work one day per week so i can be with the baby.

She's incredibly professional, educated and i trust her much as trust myself so I pay her $14/hour. But she works by herself and has every responsibility that i have while here.

If I were to get an assistant that would just help me out and wouldn't be left alone, Id probably pay closer to $10/hour. Even that is low, so I might pay more depending on their qualifications, etc. Its extremely hard to find good, qualified employees that will stay if you don't pay well, kwim?

Yes, the extra tax stuff is a pain. I met with a local payroll accountant help me figure out everything I needed for state and local taxes and Tom Copeland does a good job on his website of explaining the forms you need for federal. It took a lot of studying, but was do-able.

I have someone that comes two mornings just so I have an adult to hang with!!! I leave once a month to go to a women's group and here and there to get out of the house. I pay $10/hr.

I found help through friends or relatives. Small rural area. Word gets around!

I'm considering going to group family child care. I would love to have someone to work with!
