Also have a generator in case of an extreme emergency. Today it was -41 degrees celsius.

Where we live you just never know. The weather can be brutal and we live out in the country.
I would freeze to death!! I would never get outside!::

Trust me! The only place I go in the winter is to the grocery store or Walmart maybe 2 times a month otherwise I stay in as I really really hate winter! I prefer our whole 2 months of nice warm weather from June until the end of August then it gets cold again. The only thing we have to worry about in the summer is the mosquitos carrying us off!

We are finally missing out on a storm! Just 4-6" of snow here, which, besides falling only during commuting hours is no big deal. Like I said, though, the timing is bad so I'm sure my kids will all be here late this evening. I really don't know where we would put another 20" or so that some of you are expecting. The snow in my yard already comes to within 6-8" of my 4 foot fence. I do feel for the rest of you, though, because I've been there many times.

SilverSabre, my husband works until 9-10 a few nights a week too. I usually have him stop on his way home if we need something asap. Is that a possibility?

        Stay warm and safe everyone!

I'm not too far from you Sunflower Mama! I saw on your website you are in McKinney. I live in Providence Village, in between Frisco and Denton.

I'm just a little worried, I'm from So Cal and this will be my first major ice storm! If my DD has to go to school tomorrow, I'll have to drive in the ice to pick her up. With 5 kids in the car. Uh Oh!

I'm in Western WI and all I see on my forecast is 3 inches. I hope we don't get more but seeing some in my same state post more than a foot, I wonder.

DCmomof 3 - yeah I'm in WI but only about 15 minutes to Lake Michigan so we are forcasted up to 20 inches due to lake effect snow as well as the snow storm (Well they are calling it a blizzard). I just hope parents use common sense and stay home if they can.

well they finally changed our prediction to ice accumulation in excess of 1/4" with more ice accumulating tomorrow. I'm getting ready to head outside and pre-salt the driveway and sidewalk, take a good inventory of what we might need, and settle in. Bring it, I say!

And a message from my 3 yo who is sitting in front of me while I type this and is fascinated by the smilies on the side: ::

I was at Walmart today stocking up on things to get us through the next 72+ hrs. Snow starting 8am tomorrow through 10am Thursday, give or take. 14-20" with periods of sleet/freezing rain. Fun stuff!

I have interviews scheduled for Wednesday morning and afternoon too. One just rescheduled, waiting on the other to do the same.

We've got 4' in the yard at the shallowest points. Had to shovel paths for the kids to play. Ended up being a maze that they are loving running through. My shoulders, back and arms feel differently. As for the driveway, if DH can get it cleared enough we make sure one car can get in and park and safely walk to the garage door. If not, it's a single walking path to the garage door. We live in such a quiet neighborhood that parking on the street is not an issue. In the non snow covered months they park there anyways so they don't block eachother in.

School was closed today b/c of the ice & I am putting my $$$ on it being the same way tomorrow since we are supposed to get more ice & then snow. My husband's work even had a delay which was nice b/c he has to leave really early & planned on leaving before 6:00 am to get there by 7 (normally takes him 30 min).

We got lots of ice, it looks yucky out there! School is closed which means that I am closed as well. Hubby's work doesn't open until 11, so he's hanging with us this morning. He's trying to convince me to go out to breakfast with him.

If we get all the snow that we are supposed to get, school around here will probably be closed tomorrow and probably Thursday, which means that my full timer won't be here. Now, just to hope that if school is closed Thursday, my afternoon baby won't be here either. 2 weekdays off in a row would be great! ::

We got the ice they called for (Im in Cincy Ohio) and I have my one dcg who would come if 15 feet of snow was out there. Her grandma dropped her off today and kinda patronized me for the condition of my driveway and stairs. DH went out there and sprinkled down as much salt as possible but with the freezing rain it didnt help. So sorry you had to park your car at the end of the driveway and scoot up it with a 30lb pumpkin seat and diaper bag but we tried and there is a level one snow emergency out. Stop driving your grandkid around and wait a bit for it to be safe out. Sheesh.

On a happier note Im happy I dont live home in Buffalo right now. My sil told me they are supposed to get 20inches tonight. HA-HA to them. Ill take the 1/4 inch of ice we got any day.
