No Discounts For All Day Pre-K

I just started a family with 2 kids. Oldest qualifies for all day pre-K. I know mom was miffed initially because I said no discounts.
Today was their first day and the bus never showed. So I have older boy all day.
I admit that I pointed out that this was the exact reason I had to keep his spot open and thus no discounts...

I love when "just in case" ends up being the case.

Shows parents immediately what you trying to cover.

Hope this family never mentions the discount again.

I tend to take SK kids cause the kid fills a spot whether there here or not. For me any kid under 13 counts except my own once their 6. So first I know it would be hard to find someone just during school hours not to metion then I would be over snow days, PD days and on breaks. So all kids above 2 pay same rate. Under 2 I charge more.

In my state, we have 2 designated SA spots but they are for kids in K and up. They (the 2 sa kids) can be here on snow days, PD days, etc without me having to turn away a FT client.
But the issue is parents who qualify for pre-K think that pre-K means their kid is SA. But it doesn't.

Yep. The same issue when toddlers turn 1, 18m, and the provider gives a discount for older children (or charges more for infants) because we can only have 2 under 2, for ratio purposes, the child is an 'infant' until age 2.

I had a parent try to get their child into a free preschool program. It was 2 or 3 hours (I can't remember, it was many years ago) She asked if I would give a discount since he wouldn't be here for a few hours. Not to mention that we provided the transportation to and from, and we were teaching him preschool.. (he actually didn't get in the first time because they said he was testing too high!)

Lesson learned, this was one of my first families :P (and to top it off, I actually gave her a couple bucks off to make her feel better!!)
