    Backyard Shade Ideas

I'm trying to get ahead and prepare for summer. Our backyard has very little shade. I am trying to think of the best budget friendly option and I am not having much luck. I would love shade sails but I don't want to cement posts into our yard right now.

Anyone have shade that they love??

I have this exact issue! I also love the sail shades but am not fond of posts everywhere. We planted a few trees last year that helped a bit and I used tents and a large shade structure I got at Walmart that we bring camping.

This year we are extending our deck and buying a big gazebo from Costco because it is just ridiculous back there! It is a new development so all of the trees are teeny tiny and offer zero shade.

We have one big tree but the shade isn't that great and the kids don't really play in that area.

I have around $500 to spend and I'm not sure what would give me the most bang for my buck.

We have used a large tent in the back yard the past 2 years. We bought the one below from Amazon. We wanted a tent for our wedding reception, and figured may as well get one that would work as a shade area for the daycare as well.

oops wrong size, we got this one:

Reviews were not great, but we have had it up and down 5 times now. My husband can do it on his own, but easier with 2. Last summer it went up in May and we took it down in October. It held up fine.

That could definitely work! How does it hold up in wind?

It has held up fine in the wind. No problem having it up & out all last summer. We did put seam sealer and water proofing on it too. Next year it will still be fine for shade, but will likely leak in a few areas. Might replace the cover after next year.
