    The Pokey Child...

I have a DCG that is my oldest (almost 4) but she is very pokey. She's the last to get her outside stuff (the 2.5 year olds are done and she's just starting), it takes her a long time in the potty (not going actual potty, but getting her clothes off, back on, moving the stool, washing hands, etc) cause she's daydreaming.

I also have to ask her to do things more than once alot of the time.

Anyone have any tips on getting her to focus.

time her, make it a race? This helped a prior dcg of mine and she thought the silliness was great. Without running of course...

She would be sent to the bathroom 10 min before the rest, and then sit in the hall and wait until everyone else was finished. Same outside, I would start her cleaning up 10-20 minutes before everyone else. Make her sit on a step and wait while they played a little more and then ask them to clean up.

When she gets tired of waiting on everyone else, she will get the idea that "she" has to hurry up, if she doesn't want to stop before everyone else.

I have a very similar DCG. I hope you get some more great ideas so I can steal them.

I have a snail too.....takes forever to do anything... I just move on with out them.. I used to play a game out of it, but then it turned into a constant struggle. I do set a timer for all the kids and say are your mark get set go............For those that lag, I just move on with out them after the timer goes off.. Most have learned to pick up the pace, this one child however, still lags lags lags....
