Time Out Timer

So I'm looking for a time out timer, something visual!
I have a great countdown timer app on my phone that you can set and it fills the screen with dots (1 for every 10 seconds) then the dots go away as the time counts down. This has been great in getting some of the younger ones to sit through a time-out (something to watch/distract) and also to help them understand the whole "time doesn't start until you sit/ restarts if you get up". Basically I want a stand alone (not on my phone) hour glass that I can program to different times and instantly reset. Does such a product exist?

***Want to clarify that with the "watch/distract" comment I'm not trying to give them something to entertain during time out, just re-enforce the time is moving aspect.

I saw the "Time Timer", even when to their website. But I want something that will do small increments as well. 1 minute, 2 minute... That one would be nice for activities though.

I use a calming jar.

You can adjust the times if you DIY it yourself...

BC I made those. Found the idea on Pinterest and OMG.

Seriously not only are they fun to make , they work. I use time out as a time to calm. There is not certain amount of time you have to sit there. It's all about calming the child. I don't do the x amount of minutes. You take as long as you need to calm down. The Jars work. Honest. The kids are so distracted by them they forget why they are having a tantrum, crying, mad, etc.

Even if a child hurts another, they need to calm. Hitting is usually out of anger or frustration so using these calming jars helps being the child down.
Once the child is calm I will go talk to them.

I think I would like one of those for a two year old, but for older children, I wait until they calm down and are ready to (1) have a nice talk with me about the issue, and (2) play nicely after the talk. If they don't play nice after that, I'm a bit stricter and keep them until I think it's a good time.

Except maybe for two year olds, I don't do the one minute per year of age thing.

I got a little timer that shows the time it is counting down in red. It's called T-fal Ingenio Classic 60-Minute Mechanical Timer. I paid $11 for it.

I use it for many things. The kids do watch the red part become smaller. There are different sizes. The only problem is that the ringer isn't very loud.
