I'm applying for a grant and need some ideas on what I should think about purchasing if I'm lucky enough to be awarded anything. One thing I'd like to get is a new computer because mine doesn't hold a charge anymore unless it's plugged in and will not print. So I can't print anything for the kids to do. I don't want to ask for too much because I have to be in business for 2 years from the time the grant is awarded and if I'm not I have to pay it back. I'm planning on the next year or two I hope to have a different job, but who knows. Any ideas on something that would be great to get for daycare?

The state provides the goals that they want providers to strive for and then we, as providers, need to choose items that support or meet those goals.
School readiness is a big focus here so usually if a provider is awarded a grant anything requested that helps meet that goal is acceptable.
If you are wanting to purchase a computer or a tablet I would list the ways in which that would help you meet a specific goal.
Computers and tablets can promote literacy for children, improve developmental domain goals (reading, math, matching etc) or it could be used to observe and assess the kids in a more efficient manner.
I can see a computer or a tablet improving your parent-provider communication as well.- Flag

Deadline to apply is October.
These grants are open to anyone and are up to $1000
R.E.E.T.A.I.N. is a grant awarded to providers yearly for staying in the business. The deadline for applying for this grant is November 30. Awards are announced mid-December
Start up and emergency grants are done all year until funding is depleted.
ALL grant information is available in the Child Care Aware website.
Grants for Think Small are awarded to families so they can use the grant to pay for care at quality rated programs.
There are grants and funding available for providers that are enrolled in QRIS and want to build quality within their program as the move from one star level to the next. Funding is different each year depending on the amount the state is given.
Hope that helps.Last edited by Blackcat31; 12-01-2016, 10:16 AM.- Flag
