Child Sick, But Staying Home Tomorrow?

Dcd has been super sick with some sort of head cold for the last week and drops off every morning. He dropped off this morning saying he is going to keep dcg home TOMORROW because he thinks she's getting it:confused: I went through her symptoms with dcd and did a fever check and she doesn't have anything I would exclude for. I told him if she got bad I would give him a call... Do you think that was OK? I kind of had to laugh at him because that was such a weird thing to say. Like, if you think she's sick, wouldn't you keep her home TODAY?

I wonder if he medicated her to get through the day?

Do you have sick days for parents? Maybe he's trying to use an unpaid day off when he is taking time off?

I would have liked to have said that to him at the door and sent her home with him. I don't know if I would have been able to, but I really would want to.

I would continue to monitor and if she met ANY of my exclusions (excessively irritable, extreme fatigue, etc) then I would be calling for immediate pick up.

I wondered that too, but she really does look bright eyed and bushy tailed! Has some clear drainage, but not excessive at all. They have sent her looking much worse.

I just changed this year to no sick days so it's possible he forgot about that and was trying to get a free day. Oh well, guess he'll see that didn't work when I send out invoices!

I kind of did. I said well if you think she's too sick to be here you can take her now! And I did say that I hope I didn't get it because I would hate to close before my Thanksgiving break next week

So far she looks good... So strange!

I do wonder if I should make him stick to keeping her home tomorrow even if she isn't sick?

              I would.

Even if it's no big deal, I don't like when parents say one thing and then don't stick with it. If he told you DCG would be home tomorrow I would not allow her to attend.

If he asks, I would say I already re-adjusted my schedule to accommodate the absence.

I stick to that for several reasons....

I don't want parents thinking they can just switch stuff up when it suits them and I want parents to understand that I juggle/manage multiple schedules and when ONE family changes something it effects everyone so "he said it, it stands". period.
