    Contract and Handbook Rework

Hi all! Since we're a month and a half away from the new year, I wanted to know what the BEST thing you've ever put in your handbook has been?

I'm also thinking about reworking my contract to be contracted hours...I know there are a few posts around about this - does anyone have a link?

I'm staying in CA, BTW - which is why I'm reworking this. I am upgrading to my large license, and going back to school. I'm crazy

Wow! That is great news. We should get together for tea sometime since we are so close or just meet at the park so you can bring your kiddos. I am launching in Jan!

Give us the update! What happened? I thought you were completely shutting down and gave all your families notice....

I love the idea of contracted hours. I like them when only the ending time is contracted not the start time.

Looking forward to what others suggest to you.

The biggest changes I have made were adding a potty training policy and including in it that "as part of group care I take children to the restroom every x hours and am unable to participate in candy or food rewards, sticker charts, potty timers or watches or taking children to the restroom at short intervals unless the child verbally asks."

(I've noticed potty watches and timers are a big thing here).

I also added clothing and shoe guidelines to include no jewelry, simple clothing their child can independently manipulate, and no crocs or flip flops.

I will say though the best thing to have in your handbook is your own backbone. Everything I have written has been challenged or not read at all by parents and it's a pain to continuously say "DCP, as you see on page 4 of your handbook, etc, etc, etc."
