    I Did the Right Thing?

Snotty nose for over two weeks. I normally don't exclude if child is happy and can participate.
    Dad drops this morning.
"I don't know what you want to do. She has a rash. It wasn't there last night. Older sister had one over the weekend but I didn't put two and two together until just now. Can they stay? "
So an u diagnosed rash, horrible snotty nosed and coughing? Yes. They need to be seen. "

I sent them home w kids.
Thirty years in biz and I still question myself.

You did the right thing. I think DCD realized it was not good and wanted "backup" incase DCM got annoyed. Or he was trying to get out of having to deal with it for a while longer.

Either way good call on your part.

Ha!! Just got the call. Oldest SA boy. (I don't have him)Sinus inf. Double ear inf.
        Middle. Double ear. Sinus.
        Baby. HFM sinus inf.
        Wow. Dodged that bullet.
Ok. So 30 yrs experience is invaluable.
They apologized profusely and thanked me over and over. We will maybe see one end of week.
        But probably not.

YEP! Definitely did the right thing....but be warned HFM is transmitted by those without symptoms for several weeks.

Until all the kids in the household are back to 100%, I'd continue to exclude the entire clan.

Yes HFM is the worst because they are contagious long before the rash and continue to be for weeks afterward. I would exclude for a long time if you can!

Definitely did the right thing. Sounds like a very sick household

How on earth can people not realize that their children are THIS ILL?

              I mean, come on.

              Glad you dodged a bullet!

I think they just figure they'll "get over it." I'm glad you excluded for everyone's benefit and that they'll now be able to rest and heal.

My sickest family is proud that their children have never had antibiotics. They're my most sickly children who have coughs that last for MONTHS. The frequency that they're excluded is crazy.

I give coughs 7-10 days. If it isn't IMPROVING drastically by day 7, I take my kids in. If it's severe, they go in anyway.
