    Cure For The "Loud Talker"

Oh my stars. I am actually wearing earplugs today because I cannot take it. This child just does not have an inside voice. She is SO loud. I keep trying to remind her but I know she doesn't know how loud she is talking. Any suggestions??

Ha Ha...I don't mean to laugh but we are going through the exact same thing here. I have tried all kinds of listening activities so he understands loud and soft and dcp's have had ears checked too and there are no issues there he is just a loud kid so now, he can only whisper here. So far it is Wednesday and he is still whispering only .......I am exhausted trying to come up with solutions and I am deaf now too sooooo....whispers only.

I used to have a DCG that when she first started was so loud all of the kids were put their hands over their ears and cry, stop stop stop..I talked to mom and said nothing medical and she does it at home too.

After several days of this, I decided to show her how much it hurt our ears. We had a really really loud day. everything we did was REALLY loud. I explained to the kids that we had to help our friend and show her how loud is too loud. All the kids recated the same way, hands over ears and yelled please stop...

Sure enough she did not like it either. She put her hands over her own ears and started yelling stop !! Well after this, when she was loud I would ask her, would you like for me to be loud too?? Of course she said NO...

I've had this, too. The little girl's mom was really loud, too. After many, many, many reminders she finally figured it out. One day her mom came in with her really loud "h-e-l-l-l-l-o!" thing that she did every time she walked in at the end of the day and her little girl turned to her and said "Mommy, please, we use our inside voices when we are inside!" It was all I could do to stop myself from laughing out loud.

I really like the loud day idea. I'll have to remember that on if I have only 1 child thats loud, my problem is that they all sometimes get too loud . I had seen the yacker tracker before and am seriously considering buying one for when the whole group is loud inside .
