As pp have said I clearly state what days I am closed (all statutory days plus 2 more) whitch are paid days. AS well in the future I plan to have 2 early closings in my contract for Christmas eve at noon and Halloween at 5 (uselly close at 6). if the holiday falls on a weekend then I get the same day of in lieu that banks and government offices are closed. It's not my problem if a parent dose not get this time off. they are told in advance. I also take up to 2 weeks off unpaid. I tell parents at least 1 month in advance if not more. so far my parents have been great about it. Actually going on vacation this weekend taking the next two days off for it. one of my parents even paid me my normal rate for the week and said hzve a great time.

I've never had a dcp complain directly to me. I've been very lucky to have some great parents for the most part.

I do close for holidays and when they fall on weekends, I do take the Friday before or the Monday after as the paid holiday. When I post reminders of closings, I include the statement: This is a paid holiday as outlined in the contract. That way, parents are reminded that this is something they agreed to when they signed on with me.

Although I was only open a short amount of time, I never had an issue. But I also had parents that would go out of town so that also made it a nonissue.
