How Do You Deal When Your Own Child Is Sick?

What do you do when your child is sick and you are the only one that can care for them? Do you call/text all of your families and give them the option to still come in at their own risk?

I hate when I have to do this. My 3 year old had a high fever all night, so I had to let everyone know. This is the second time it has happened in a month. Sometimes people still bring their kids, but today they were all able to stay home.

In the past I have given a "come at your own risk" sort of thing. Now, if they meet my exclusion policies, I close. I felt awful not being able to focus on caring for them when I still had dck's and i got really annoyed when dcp didnt want to keep their kid home when they caught it because "mine already had it, no big deal" Now, I just close. No more guilt, debating over sickness etc. And it's encourages parents not to dose and drop. They know if they do, mine will most likely get what they have and I follow my own policies VERY strictly. Gotta set the example

One time, my son started throwing up right after the kids got here and I texted the parents to let them know. They all kept their kids here. I was surprised! But I regretted it because he couldn't stop throwing up and we actually almost had to take him to the hospital. I wasn't able to tend to him and everyone at the same time and it was too much for me!

But if my child had a fever and I was able to make him comfortable in his room and the parents were ok, then I would be ok with that!

But never again if it's a stomach virus or something like that where my kid needs tons of attention!
