I sent home a letter regarding our party a week ago. Everyone was to bring their costume and treats for 8 kids. Everyone but one kid didn't bring a costume or treats. Why can't parents do what is asked?

Sorry it didn't go as you hoped. I'm surprised that only one family was into it because it seems like parents like to do that stuff. But, you can't exactly expect to force them to participate in a party. Did any of them show any interest before today? I guess this really shows sign ups sheets for party foods really are necessary. Then you know what is or is not coming. Did you supply some party food or are you going to just cancel that whole plan and do something else?- Flag

Sorry that happened.Unfortunately, it is becoming more and more common. I hope it is because of the Monday Halloween?
I gave up on our annual over-the-top Halloween party this year. - 3 early arrivals, all full-day stays. 1 pitiful late stay without signed T-R-T field trip form. I am bummed, I planned to take the tot around in costume, myself.
Halloween used to be such a fun "kids" holiday.
* I actually have 2 little ones getting shots today...Who is that pediatrician???
- Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.- Flag

This is why I don't involve parents in holiday parties
Today is a PJ Halloween party (I don't want the risk or hassle of costumes). The children and I are carving a pumpkin, watching a kid friendly Halloween movie, playing pumpkin bowling and will then eat a Halloween themed lunch. No parent involvement needed, and the children still get to have fun- Flag

) and a dck with a special diet. So I tell parents "that's what you pay the big bucks for"
and the kids and I make ONE treat for the "party" AKA afternoon snack
*Cat Herder - I have one getting shots today too!- Flag

I'm never doing a Halloween party again.
I specifically said do not bring the kids IN costume. Half came in costumes, which I had to pry off of them so they aren't ruined (it's a regular day with halloween themed things, party at the end)
One kid came in with a full size hershey bar, almost gone. THANKS DCM!
Now I have THREE kids not resting because they want to wear their costumes, and those three are keeping up the other three. This afternoon should be FUN with cranky kids.- Flag
