    Dcb with catheter?

So dcb (13m) had surgery and was kept home for a week after. He came back yesterday, all good. He woke up dry today though, and not peeing would mean having to have a catheter put back in...maybe. depends on what the doctor says. I have no policy on catheters or any real understanding of them. Are they hard to manage? Would you accept a dck with one? Right now it's just a "maybe" but I want to be prepared before saying yes, if I say yes. Family is wonderful, zero issues.

    Nope. No how no way.

I know nothing about them, don't want to and wouldn't.

I have enough on my plate.

I understand that is a long time to be out of care but that is awfully young to not be in the care of a parent or relative given the nature of his medical needs right now.

Notice how many times in this article it says "A nurse will show you..." That says to me that it requires someone in the field to educate you on how to properly use and care for it.

It also says if it comes out you have to seek emergency room services, he's 13 months.....I can see that happening for sure at that age.... nope, just not something I think I'd be willing to take on.

A child with a catheter is an unwell child. A catheter generally means the child will need to be extra careful about moving around and dislodging it, something I am not able to provide as a childcare provider.

I am really surprised this child is at daycare.

Ok, yup, read that article and if he needs another one, he will be home! I figured that would be the best plan, but having no experience with them on kiddos, I wanted to check He's been peeing fine all morning so I'm optimistic he's alright. Dcm is going to check in with the dr about a dry overnight diapers, but that he was peeing fine yesterday, and now this morning it looks promising.

Yup, there's no way i can limit movement here. This kiddo is active and determined to chase the big kids around . He doesn't have one in now, he did, but it was removed before he came back. We just need to make sure he's peeing, and if not, then he would need another. When he woke up with a dry diaper, mom was worried. He's been peeing this morning though so I don't *think* he'll need to have it done again.

But needless to say, if it does need to be done dcb is staying home!
