    Not Surprised

My interview was a no show. That makes 4 out of the last 5 interviews no shows. What the H@LL is going on around here??

I liked the idea (I think someone said it on here) that the potential client had to call an hour before the interview to confirm.

Sorry! That ****s! I went through a spell like that not too long ago. Just think of it this way; atleast you're finding out that they are rude and inconsiderate now and not after they've been in your care for a few weeks.

Sorry cillybean, If you were closer I could of sent you the lady last night begging me to take her 6 week old and the people that pulled up in my driveway and called me, they had a 4 month old. I wish I knew another provider close to me that I could send all these babies to.

Have the potential client call by NOON the day OF the interview to confirm. If they don't confirm by noon the interview is cancelled. NO exceptions. If they call after noon or they come without confirming you have to say NO interview.

It's a perfect test of complance to YOUR rules. Tell them on the phone that they MUST call by noon or you will know the interview is off. They do not ned to call to cancel the interview ... just don't call and it's cancelled.

I don't even write down or THINK about an interview until I get the confirmation call. I always set interviews for NEXT week. I don't interview right away. This puts time in between the phone call and the interview so when they DO call to confirm it shows me they are organized and are compliant.

It says a lot about how they will be as clients.

Sorry that happened! I just don't get people. Over half of my interviews have been no shows as well. Or I get people who come to the interview, then never call again, so I'm waiting by the phone. Rude!!! I really like nannyde's idea! Save yourself the time cleaning.

                I agree with this one.

If they call again tell them you are sorry you filled the position. Even though you didn't. After all they were a no show and couldn't even call that is rude and you don't want people like that.

Maybe next time you schedual an interview with a family and they name a time say I am sorry I have an interview with another family at that time. My next time available for an interview that evening is ***. Let them know you only do interviews on certain days and certain times.
Let them feel that you are in demand and with others being interested in you as well they may hold onto that interview or be more coutious of your time and call if they can't make it.

Finding childcare is obviously not a priority to them at this point - probably would have just been a waste of time if they had shown up!

Unless you really need the income, I wouldn't reschedule. I can hear it now, sorry we are late to pick up, got busy. Sorry we didn't get you paid, we were busy and completly forgot.
I had a bunch of those back in the fall. People would set up interviews and never show up. There are so many providers here with openings, that if they get a client in the door they do their best to get them to sign contracts before they leave. As a parent I would want to look at all of them, but apparently that isn't a real popular opinion right now. Good luck with your spots, if you do have them come back for an interview, make sure you are firm from the get go with them! You WILL pay me on time, you WILL pick up on time, and what ever else is important to you!

I have had some no call no shows in the past. Now I call to confirm their interview and tour here, on the day before.
