    Neighbors

I am looking for input from other home providers regarding noise control and the coming and going of parents. Does this seem to bother your neighbors? What about parking during drop off and pick up? Does your driveway get packed? I am always concerned about neighbors being irritated by my running an in-home childcare program. I have not had any complaints, but was looking for comments from other providers.

I haven't had any complaints, but we do spend a lot of time outside and I don't let the kids do the scream like they are hurt thing. They can yell and be loud, but I put a stop to the "oh no my leg just fell off" screaming. We have a really big yard though. I haven't had a problem with the driveway either. It's very rare that parents end up dropping up or picking up at the same time. If they do they are usually polite enough to park to the side.

Unfortunately we have a really loud potty mouth that lives across the street from us that really seems to enjoy dropping the f-bomb. I'm about ready to call someone about her, if that would do any good.

I live in a condo and I always worry about this. Fortunately, my neighbors are not home during the day and they have small children of their own. We have a playground across the street from my unit, so we just cross the road and the kids play there. People expect it to be loud there.

My suggestion would be to just talk to your neighbors. Something informal maybe a "By the way, I hope the kids haven't bothered you" and "please let me know if they get to loud". A simple statement like that will let them know you're concerned about their privacy.

      good luck!

I have never had any problems in 10 years. We are only outside from May thru Sept, in the late mornings and early afternoons. I too don't allow the screaming and fighting among the kids outside, as that will get you a quick trip inside to sit on a chair.

I do not want my clients to park in the neighbors driveway. Also, there are only people coming in and out in the mornings then in the afternoon, so it isn't like it is an all day thing.

All these issues, we have never even thought of them being a problem, but we're not in town....

I have enough improved driveway space for the parking of 3 semi tractor trailers, and still be able to get in and out of the garage and daycare parents to come and go without a problem.

As for the neighbors, nearest is over 1/4 mile away.....I can't even hear him mowing lawn.

My sister was in town and had it right in her contract that parents were to park either in her driveway, or on the street, NEVER blocking a neighbor's driveway or access.
Spouse of a daycare provider....which I guess makes me one too!

I've had one set of neighbors mention how they can here the kids outside in the water. They say they enjoy the sound of having the happy sounds. When they hear my screamer they tell me that they could never do what I do.

That's the comment I get the most, "I don't know how you do it". No one really seems to care about the happy noises.

I'm pretty new at it, but so far noise or parking haven't been a problem for me. I just hear "I don't know how you do it!" .
