I'm a junior in college and applying to work at a preschool and daycare. To obtain a daycare license I have to fill out a sheet and any crime convictions but I don't know what to put. Here's what happened since it was a very complicated event.
So, I drank a lot one night and I got very depressed (I learned that night that Alcohol is a bad depressant for me) and some of my friends drove me to the hospital because they were worried about me, which was probably a good call because I did not know my limits then. S0 at the hospital, it is procedure to put anyone who is supposedly suicidal and combative in restraints. They were trying to draw my blood and I am terrified of needles so I resisted and accidentally kicked a nurse. Yea... So our hospital has amnesty for minors. So hospitals don't call the police for intoxication of a minor. Except police were there and witnessed this. Proceeded to write me a Minor in Consumption.
I remember only flashes of this. Next morning I wake up and had to sign this misdemeanor while still somewhat intoxicated. Doctor came in, I explained I had no idea what the hell happened, they take me off suicide watch because Doctor agrees that I apparently just freak out on alcohol. And then he explains I kicked a nurse. No biggie though, nurse understands it was a complete accident and isn't pressing charges. Thank god, tell doctor to apologize for me. Still panicking over this MIC though. Then I get news though that despite nurse not pressing charges, the police office there wants to press charges of assault? battery? i don't know, on behalf of the nurse. I immediately panic. Hire an attorney with my dad's help.
Attorney figures it out, meets with judge lady. She tells me that she'll just charge me with misdemeanor of disturbing the peace and I'll pay like a 200 dollar fine. Attorney says no official paperwork went through for anything other than a minor in consumption. As in police officer never filed for me assaulting the nurse. Attorney basically says that the only thing that will show up in any record is that I got charged with a Minor in Consumption and had it changed into a Disturbing the Peace.
Problem is this application asks: Have I ever ben charged with a crime etc. Then: Date of Event, Place of Event, Offense, and Result.
That on earth should I put? I don't want to lie but I also don't want to give too much info. Will this prevent me from getting a daycare license in the state of Idaho?
