Is 1 Hour and 15 Minutes Long Enough To Nap?

I used to nap the kids right after lunch from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. but since my own DS started kindergarten this year our schedule changed a bit and he gets out at 1:20 p.m.

I moved lunch to 11 a.m. (used to be at 11:30 a.m.) and that still only gives the kids from 11:30 - 12:45 p.m. to nap (1 hour and 15 minutes) since I need 15 minutes to change diapers, toilet breaks, to load the kids in the van and leave by 1:00 p.m. Is that enough of a nap?

I've always let them wake up on their own and now I have to wake them. They're not altogether fussy all day but sometimes they're cranky at first when I wake them. The parents have also commented (not really complained) that the kids knock out earlier at night which they're bummed about since they don't get to spend that extra time with the kids.

I was thinking about napping the kids after I picked up my son from school instead so from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Is that too late? Does anyone else do a later nap and it works/doesn't work? I'm afraid that the kids will not want to sleep until late at night if I do (including my own kids).

I don't think 1 hour 15 mins is enough. It takes my kiddos upwards of 15-30 minutes to fall asleep so being woke after an hour or less would throw mine off big time.

I'd nap them AFTER your son gets home.

I would push everything after pickup. Nap 130-330

I'd do naps after school pick up. I would rather have kids nap later than not nap long enough.

I agree with everyone else, I would push lunch later, then clean up, pick up ds, come home, then nap everyone

Yeah I like the later nap idea better so they get more sleep. I'll just have to blast the air conditioning in the van so they don't fall asleep on the ride to get my son ๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ

The year just started and already I can't wait until next year when he's in 1st grade and gets out at 2:30 like my daughter and I can go back to 12-2pm naps ... and I haven't started napping them at 1:30 yet, today will be the first day ::

All my kiddos nap from 1:30-3:30 or 4. It's a great schedule. It would be a nice break for you to be able to have some one on one with your child too!

I do naps from 1-3:00, I can't imagine earlier. My day would seem so long. I put the majority of the work on the front end so the back end is a breeze

Our nap is 1-2:30, used to be 1-3. I changed it becis I need to get ds off kindergarten bus at 3. So same reasons as you pretty much. Change it, YOU deserve that break.

My kids lay down at 1 and are up between 3 and 3:30. I like the later naps, by the time they get up we change diapers/use the bathroom, clean up the rest area and have snack. Then it's time to say goodbye!

I have recently started doing naps from 11-1 and it has been working out GREAT for us! We do morning snack before nap and then lunch after.

I have to move naptime up to noon so I can get to the bus stop on time for my own son. It's the most stressful post of my day. I was loving summer vacation just so I wouldn't have to wake anybody up.(they still get 2.5 hours or so and most are up by then.)

Most of the kids at my center lay down around 1. Some of the younger ones have a hard time adjusting to it, but it works well after they get used to it.all of my room lay down at 1 and sleep until 3:30 or 4. Ages 2 and 3.

I do 1:30-3:30 and it works for us. Depending on the age you could even do 1:30-3:15. I found it helpful to get them up and outside so they will have moved around some before they go home. I have only had one mom complain about my "later nap time" but Im not sure she was a good example because that kid never got a good night sleep anyways cause she sleeps with mom and shes almost 3. Mostly its worked out well doing that schedule.
