I get you. A long time ago I used to think like that myself, but I smartened up one day and realised there is really never a good or right time to lie. If a situation ever comes up where you can't tell the truth, you're better off not saying anything at all.Children are little angels, even when they are little devils.
They are also our future.- Flag

The role is actually reversed. I put the post as a owner to see if I would get better honest replies. But yes, I have been offered to be a director since I was unable to get my loan to open my center. The owner hasn't given me a set salary. I don't know what she is intending on paying me just yet but I wanted to know what I should expect. the owner is one that will just sit back and collect... Meanwhile... I'm doing all of the work including parent handbooks, employee handbooks, employee applications, websites, etc. I don't know what I got myself in but I hope I am compensated for this. This daycare is in the middle stages of opening. I am 6-8 weeks out.- Flag

The fact you are begging for help means you have no clue what it will involve & my guess is you will quit within a year because of burn out... and in TN you have to get a waiver for a 24/7 childcare center... if you read the rules... and I pray that you have read the regulations, without a waiver, centers can only run 6am-6pm. I do not know of one 24/7 center in this state. the closest one that is open is 6:30am-11pm- Flag

I'm not annoyed you didn't reveal everything about yourself, because I don't feel we should online. However, I doubt there's much we can do to help you or you to help yourself in the situation at hand. The owner has a budget. Unfortunately, in this economy, someone will do the work for less.- Flag

I have a few questions... have you ever done childcare even out of your own home? I ask because the last 2 centers that tried to copycat me failed (I am a home childcare, but unique in how I run) - neither had any experience as an home daycare owner much less a director of a center; degrees don't give real life experience & without that you are doomed.

The owner does have a waiver and no.... Although I lack experience as a director I'm not the type of person who will just quit. I'm not begging for help I just asked for opinions and I see some are just not necessary but thanks anyway.::

ok now I am more confused...
so you know how much you are going to be paid, but came here to ask how much do you think a director should be paid??
sorry, I am slow.
I will say that it sounds like you are really trying to research, but it's hard to help you when everything is so confusing.- Flag

I made this post before I was given a contract.- Flag

The fact you were given a waiver... and a 24/7 one is a miracle in this state... I would love to know where you are exactly; I work 15 hrs with babies now (at one time 18 hrs) and I hate it, but it's only for the one semester... usually I have a 12 hr limit. I pray that you have a really good salary because you will get calls middle of the night- Flag
