    Need Input On Afterschool Rates

Dcm will need me sometimes for after school care, which by the time they get brought here, wouldn't be more than a couple hours. She'll know her schedule a week at a time and it might not be more than a day or 2 a week. My rates are 21 a day but haven't done after school for a long time.
What would you expect to pay for 2 hours of flexible care, 2 siblings, maybe 2-3 afternoons a week?

They'll be going to after school care when it starts but that won't be for a month.
Thanks for any help you can give.

    $5 per hour/per child

This is a temporary situation so I wouldn't give any discounts.

I think the $5 per hour per child sounds fair, the after school program at my son's school is $15 per day (per child) and runs for 3 hours, but it's $15 whether your child is there an hour or there the full 3 hours (and I'm not complaining, it's a very fair price).. You might want to set a minimum price, maybe $10 per child, in case dcm picks up after an hour, to make it worth your time?

The minimum price idea is great. I do $5/hr per child, but if it's after my regular hours, I do add an upcharge--I'm not adding to my regular workload, I'm expanding my workday and eating into my time off. Give yourself time-and-a-half!

I have many after school programs in my area, so I match the price they do.

That is currently 15/day. Usually the amount of time after is a couple hours as well as making sure they make it safely to your home. I have a bus stop that is rescheduled for my SA's that is less than a block but I cannot meet them there. I make sure they sign a permission form for travel by themselves to my home without my supervision, obviously I am on top of when their bus arrives and looking out for them.

I find that SA's are starving when they get here so I believe this rate covers their snack and the other activities that I plan so they don't get bored.

My family like that they get a cozy and welcoming place to relax after school and they definitely like that aspect.

I was wondering if it would be inappropriate to ask dcm what she was paying at the center they went to??

I appreciate your replies and was definitely thinking of something within those numbers. I just don't want to $crew the dcf or get $crewed myself.

Here the charge is a flat rate of $15, sometimes $20. Depends on the dayhome. Includes snack.

After school through school is approx $12/day. Does not include snack.

I would charge a flat rate of $15 and cap hours at 3 (or whenever your close is). My own children come home and are ravenous so that rate should cover food and then your time.

I don't think so. I think it's all in how your word it. I would just say what your normal rates would be (mine is more expensive) and say that you are willing to match any alternatives that they have looked into. One pick up instead of 2 is a huge benefit to dcm also.
