BlackCat is a genius (Audio Books)

I had a very light summer with only my kids, sporadic drop ins, and one 4 yo dcb. We slept in until 9:30 ish each day, so I didn't even put his cot out most days. We went without nap unless a little one was here and even then, he was allowed to go play with DS in his room. Well, fast forward to getting them all ready for the school year....I put cots out and that same 4 yo dcb kept getting off to come ask me if he could go play with ds. I know this was my own making, but, I need the rest period during the school year. I know he may be outgrowing naps and needed something to keep him on his cot and entertained even if awake. I have been putting on audio books from the library all week and so far, even though he was only here one day with them so far, they are all asleep(including him) within 10 minutes of it! Thank you BC!! It is such a great idea and I never thought of it before reading you use them!

    Awesome!!!!

I'm definitely not a genius...just a frazzled mom who's child would literally not close his eyes more than 4 hours consecutively for the first 5 YEARS of his life.

I needed something that would buy me time (sleep).

Since it worked so well for my kid I figured I'd try it with the daycare kids. I had just opened so I didn't know much about group care and routines etc for multiple kids.

I was grateful it worked and have used it ever since.

Super glad it's worked for you! Hoping it continues to be a workable solution to something we all struggle with from time to time.

The library is the BEST resource.

When I first started out, I actually started out reading my own stories and recording myself but that got time consuming.

Now I utilize the library and Scholastic books the most.

My own kids tear up and destroy anything and everything so I don't check stuff out from the library anymore ::

But recording my own voice might work for now. Maybe I can find digital downloads. Tapes and CD's never work out for me because they get pulled out (the tape) or scratched (the CD's) but I'll have to go thrift shopping, maybe I can find some cheap.

I just get the cds from the library as well. We always have a TON of movies, books, and now these in the house! I went to 2 different libraries yesterday. Once with the dck and then took my own boys after dinner. I keep all the stuff from the library together in a bag on the back of my son's br doorknob so, we generally don't lose stuff and they are good with keeping them in good condition.
