    Audio books

I currently have a great nap routine (thank goodness, because I really empathize with the posts about nap issues!), but I'd like to have a few audio books handy in case I ever do run into issues. My policy is we rest for two hours, and if you can't sleep after an hour you can read silently or listen to an audio book (which I currently don't own). Luckily, I have to drag my kiddos off their mats when rest time is over.

I'm hoping to never need them, but does anyone have a good audio book system for kids? Is there some sort of gadget you use or just a cd player? I'd love something super kid-friendly. I imagine these will be useful as my kids do get older and perhaps don't sleep as soundly every, single day.

    Thank you!

I buy oodles of books on CD from Scholastic (you just can't beat their pricing) and then upload the stories into one giant file.

I then download all the stories onto a DVD (holds more than a CD) and use my Blu-ray player to play the DVD.

I am sure you could download them onto a USB stick or card or maybe even play the file wirelessly right off your PC but other than just not having the knowledge to do that, I prefer to just put them all on a DVD and not store them.

I play keep the stories on the whole nap time (I can easily fit dozens of stories on one DVD) so that if the kids fall asleep later, wake earlier or don't sleep at all they have something they can listen to quietly without disturbing the others.

I keep the volume just low enough that if they are wigglers or if they mess around they can't hear it.

So smart! I never thought to just play them as background for everyone to hear. I always use noise machines, so I imagine it would accomplish the same thing and work for the earlier risers!

I'll be heading to the library and checking out scholastic asap!
