    Deposit Question

    Good morning ladies,

I have a family who has been with me for 2 1/2 years. There daughter is 3 now and they told me yesterday she will start preschool after labor day. When they first started with me they gave me a deposit of one week. Last year mom had a second baby and became a stay home mom but continued bringing the child 3 days a week instead of full time and their rate of course became less per week. Anyway dad asked me yesterday what would happen with their deposit they gave 2 years ago. I told him that their child's last week of care they would not have to pay. Now he is asking me if she could come full time the last week of care since she was full time when they gave the deposit. Problem is I am full on the days she is normally not here. I'm kind of surprised he is being so cheap. Am I obliged to have her come full time that week?

If they change to part time and you have other days filled, they can't just go back to full time, not even for just 1 week. He is being pretty cheap worrying about the small difference. I would just refund them the difference between the regular charge for the last week and the deposit.
Children are little angels, even when they are little devils.
    They are also our future.

You are not at all obligated to allow her to attend full time but you would have to refund any portion of the deposit not used for services if they attend only part time the final week.

You could apply it towards the last two weeks of care and reduce their last payment accordingly.

I would refund part of the deposit to reflect the PT price.

That's what I would do. Use it to cover last two weeks and have them cover the difference.

That's how I would do it.
