    Potty training!

I have 3 toddlers that I think are about ready to start potty training. How do you go about doing this??
Do you all use pull ups or just put them in underwear? Do you use a stand alone training potty or the one that sits on the actual toilet? How long do you have them sit?
And what I'm really struggling with... What do you do with the other kids while your taking potty trainers. I have two younger ones that are 10 months and 17 months.

Potty training is a parental responsibility.

I do NOT involve myself in the process until the parent has started training at home and the child has made significant progress during that time.

If a child is truly ready, a parent can devote a 3 day weekend to it and viola` easy peasy.

I prep the kids here for future potty training at home with their families. I don't want the kids in underwear until they have bladder control, but I want them in pull-ups as soon as they can stand.

I do not use the changing table for any child capable of standing. I bring them into the bathroom and have them stand while we change, so they learn where we do our business.

They have a potty seat on the little toilet in my bathroom, a step stool at the sink (an upcoming renovation is to have a plumber replace this pedestal sink with a low one the kids can reach), and soap/paper towels at kid-height.

I bring them one at a time into the bathroom, have them sit on the potty for a minute or two, praise them, and show them how to wash their hands. They all master the hand-washing pretty quickly.

Once the parents are potty training at home, things work pretty smoothly here--they need help with the wiping and turning the water on/off, and a couple of them have some issues getting feet back into separate leg holes in their shorts, but it's working well this way so far! One kid urinates every time he's on the potty, so his pull-up changes are down to just once or twice a day; another has yet to actually produce anything on the potty, but she cheers herself on each time.

          That sounds good too!
What do the other kids do while you are taking them one at a time.
I can't really go out of arms reach of my kids to go do something else because they hit and push and tackle each other and I also have a biter I have a tough little group for sure .

I'm fortunate to have a 1/2 bath in the bonus room we use, so I leave the door propped open enough to watch the other kids.

I have a hair-puller, so potty time is also an excuse to separate him from his usual victim.

This room also opens to a utility room with a sink, so I'd stick a training potty in there if I didn't have the 1/2 bath.
