Just Charged My First Late Fee and I Think DCM Is Mad!

I've posted several times about my lack of backbone, but today, my backbone appeared!!! Whoop! I will no longer let the parents dictate when kids get picked up or when I get paid.

Dcm said she had to run to the bank and it would be later. Ummmm no. I just worked over 10 hours and it's now my time with my family. She's done this several times in the past and I've let it slide.

I sent a letter home a week ago stating I would need to get paid no later than 5:30 on Fridays.

I told her it would be $10 extra since it will be past 5:30!

Dcm just walked out the door. I said bye (nicely) and she didn't say anything LOL!!!

I'm patting myself on the back because it wasn't easy at all for me to charge a late fee. But I'm tired of waiting around.

How would she feel if her employer told her to wait around for her pay after she just worked a full day? Uh uh. No more!

Thank you all for always helping me!

Ugh I need to do this too. The first time she went home to get the check book. (this is after her contracted time but while other kids are here) The next time dcb got sick on me during drop off and she left with him without leaving the check, then we were gone all weekend. So Monday, I wrote late fees waived on receipt, so they knew fees were owed.
I want to write a letter of reminder and even change the wording in the policy to "due at drop off" instead of "due at pick up" but I never seem to get it done.

She should be mad enough that she won't be late again!

          Good for you!

She can only be mad at herself. She knew the policy and was late.

Super proud of you! I know it might have been uncomfortable, but I'll bet you felt confident and empowered. You will see it will get easier and actually you won't have to do it as often now that you have stood your ground. YEA!
