    Morning Funny

My DCF got here right on time just like they normally do. After DCM had dropped off I helped the kids take their coats off. I asked how their weekend was. DCG quickly responded with we went for a drive. Oh, where did you go? She said, "Oh, I meant this morning we went for a drive". . . ?? Oh, really? I asked. Yes, we were out the door too early so we drove around the homes near Wal-Mart. I about LOL. First of all DCF lives about 1 mile from me. The Wal-Mart is 4 miles away from us. While I appreciate the fact that she didn't want to arrive before designated drop-off time I found it hilarious that she chose to drive around town killing time. What is so hard about spending that extra 10-15 min at home with your kids?

I probably have done this a million times with my kids.
Because it's better to be early than late.
With little ones, you think you're on schedule, and boom, someone has to potty, then this one undresses, that one pees his pants, etc.

It's much easier to get them in the car extra early, and sit around and wait, or drive around then to leave "on time" and end up leaving late.

i am like Baybee. I am always allowing for more time than I need because of set backs and slow boys.

Maybe your dcks were all being faster than normal this morning so it took less time to get to the car.

You know, it's funny, it seems like the mornings I wake up extra early, I'm rushing more than if I woke up 5 mins before running out the door.
Does anyone else find this too? I think it's because I figure I have so much time, and then I sit my butt on computer and go on daycare.com

That is sooo me! It always seems to happen on Sundays when we are getting ready for church. Those few extra minutes that we end up having always make us late. I actually set the timer yesterday because I got up early and just KNEW we would be late. I totally agree with Baybee...sometimes it's just easier to get everyone packed up early. Plus, you can still spend quality time with your kids, even if you are driving around.

I actually did this quite a few times when I was a working mom! I used to get so caught up in getting the kids ready and getting out the door, sometimes we'd get in the car & I'd realize we were 10 minutes early! So yes, instead of arriving prior to the drop off time at daycare, we'd drive around. I can soooo sympathize!

As a mom to 3 I totally understand why she did it, it just made me laugh to hear it told to me from DCG.

I was early for a haircut app and I drove around for a couple of min and ended up getting lost in some neighborhood and ended up being 10 min late.

I spent 2 years doing this exact thing 2 days/week. We only had one car, hubby had to get to work at a set time but the woman who watched my kids didn't want them to get there until a certain time. That left 20 minutes of down time, and I wasn't about to drive out of the way to go back home for those 20 minutes. In the winter we'd drive around, but in the summer we'd go to a playground near her house.

I just didn't want the hassle of getting two toddlers out of the car, undressed, and into the house, and then dressed and back into the car a few minutes later. Luckily they were still too little to tell on me . But I think if my husband had known, he would have put a stop to the mindless gas usage real quick ::.
