    Child Won't Bite Food

I have an 11.5 mo old who eats "big people" food but doesn't bite anything off. If I give him a quarter piece of bread he holds in up to his mouth and ****s it in. Other foods he swallows whole so I have to cut them up or he'll choke.

In 20 years I've never had a child **** bread goods like this - is this unusual or just something I've never seen before?

Maybe kiddo just hasn't quite figured it out yet. 11 months is still learning some of that stuff. I would just keep offering foods and do as you are doing.

Does he get a lot of those squeeze pouches at home? Haha, I've noticed that with some of my squeeze pouch kids..no chewing, just ****ing! I don't really think it's typical, usually they have sense of how to chew by then! I give ****** of soft cooked foods like zucchini, summer squash, and carrots. I cook it just soft enough that they can still hold the food and kind of **** it, but if they get a chunk off, it won't be detrimental.

I get that, it's just the first time I've seen a kid hold a piece of bread up to his mouth and **** it in little by little.
