    Rate Question

I had a call for 2 boys 2 and 3 yrs old. Need to be watched from 2-230 til 530 5 days a week. I am new at this and have 1 baby right now and get 95 for him for 17 hrs a week one half day and two full. I have my rates set at 25 for less then 4 hrs and 35 for over if I went by my scale it would be like 250.00 for the week for the 2 kids.(15-18 hours each) OUCH tell me what some of you think . would 200 still be to steep ? I know the person also. nice guy. whats your thoughts on this anyone??

I'd charge $30/total day for the both of them but only b/c that is later than I normally care to work so $150/week. It really all depends on where you live, I am in the midwest. My PT rate (less that 4 hrs a day) is $15/day so that is how I came up with $30/day.

I am in midwest michigan rates are all over map here. I have a friend who charges 50 a day and gets it. crazy and another who gets 25 and told me to go higher than her becuz she dont dare to raise rates. for full time

But ok. I was thinking 150 to 175 a week. being that with the two of them its like a full time spot. my part time rate is 25 a day what is your full time rate?

I charge $22 a day for FT. $15/day for PT (actual PT hours, less than 4 hrs). If it is over 4 hrs & is only PT I would charge $24/day

25 for full day, part days are either 10 or 15 depending on age. (4+ is $10 for under 4 hours, anyone younger than 4 is 15 for under 4 hours)

$27 per kid per half day. No sib discount.
            $270 per week.
Is that 2:00 drop off going to come right in the middle of afternoon nap for your other dck? Ugh! I wouldn't have that!

or you could say 70 for a part time week, times two= 140.

seems alot to me. she may decide to not go back to work then. I told him my rate was 250 for week part time for two kids but said i would look further into it becuz I just lost my mom 11 days ago and I am buried in estate papers right now and I cant think straight. She is waiting for call from place she wants to work at. so I know Ill go less then the 250 a week. I just need to figure it out.

You are right about the $270 not $220! I think I am coming down with something. I have had a foggy brain and headache for two days now. I am also not used to breaking my rate down by the week as I get paid by the month. I will refrain from math for the remainder of the day!::::::
As to it being too high....you asked what we all would charge and if we thought $200 would be too steep. I absolutely do not think that $200 is too steep. Go with that amount. I have been doing this now for many years and used to sell myself short and charge just a little more for a full day than I do for a half day now. For me I would rather watch fewer children at a higher rate than watch lots and lots of kids for a lower rate to make the same amount of money. Know what I mean?

That's tough. I usually charge a flat rate per day of $36/day for full time (I want to raise my prices but I feel bad and not sure how), but I've never really been hit with a part-timer for less than 4 hours. To be nice, and maybe cut the fee in half and a few buck and make it a flat $25/ day for 4 hours or less.

My neighbor does dc as well and she has a dcg that is 5. She comes M-F only about 1.5 hours a day before school and she charges them $125/week ($25/day).

Thanks for all your input on all of this. I do charge 25 a day for half a day. I guess where Im feeling bad is it is 2 kids not one so that make 50 dollars a day and would be 250 a week. and how in the word can u afford 250 a week when u have been a fulltime house wife and now are getting a job. I would rather not lose them and so I wanted peoples ideas on what would be too high or too low. I think that I may tell them 150-175 a week. It would be like a full time childs pay for 15 hrs a week (X2 kids). a bonus in my eyes that I wouldnt have them all day long My baby comes at 2 and they would be about 230 so I have the whole morning to myself and to get my daughter ready for school. And run errands. I just dont wanna sell myself short,

thank you to those who commented about my moms passing It means alot!
