I'm beginning to believe that the whole world is conspiring against my summer.

Right now I have 3 kids sick with colds, coughs, and sinus infections.

A lady was bit last week by a great white shark at the beach I take the kids to all summer. All of my daycare kids stay pretty close to the water's edge digging for sand crabs. My eldest granddaughter and grandsons ride boogie boards when there's waves.

I would be so paranoid to take DCGs to the beach. I would do it on a weekend with the families with the parents there as long as they were clear they aren't my responsibility.

Huntington beach is where we go to swim though, or Bolsa Chica which is the next beach over. (

The sharks they've located are near Sunset Beach, just up from Bolsa Chica.

We always go to Corona del Mar. The woman that was attacked at Corona was quite a ways out. She was out past the buoys.

I've been taking the daycare kids to Corona del Mar for over 30 years. I always go to the same spot. You have the walkway to get down to the water. Lifeguard is right there. I can set up my canopy right at the edge of the water and the kids play right in front of me. We walk back up to the grassy area to eat lunch.
